We got the opportunity to go to King’s Island again this past Friday. Had a great time! The kids are getting older and taller and it’s been nice to continue to be freed up from the rides’ height restrictions. This was an event organized by one of the Midwest Summer Camp board members and close friend of ours. As was every visit it King’s Island, it was a great time.
Before King’s Island, Sonya and the kids were able to go and see a good and long-time friend of Sonya’s who lives in the Columbus OH area on Thursday. They all had a good time visiting and came to meet me at my hotel on Thursday evening.
Eli had a new experience riding The Diamondback. The conversation that we had in line vs. what his actual experience was, was classic. Not at all sure about what he was getting himself into, but about half way into the ride he looks at me and screams, “This is awesome!” I’m glad I was there for that. Later on, Sonya rode the same ride with Zach and Eli and it didn’t quite agree with her stomach, so she was done for the day with the big rides unfortunately.
Another fun time was watching Savannah progress in overcoming her fears of the bigger rides. The first episode was on The Flying Ace Aerial Chase. Same thing, just not that sure about whether or not she would like it, but after hours of coaxing her into riding, she, and I quote, “I didn’t like it. I loved it!” Savannah’s next episode on The Racer didn’t go so well. Turns out the restraining bar and seat belt didn’t do much for her small frame and she found herself levitating a bit more than she was ever used to. Funny for me who was able to look over at her facial expressions during the ride, but not so funny for her. But I have to say that she was very brave and I was proud of her for trying.
Zach was my big ride buddy again for the day as he was when we went a year ago for his 10th birthday. No fear in this boy! And Seth, despite a few rounds of complaints (which he’s frequently known for these days for some reason) had a good time on some of the smaller rides.
As an added bonus, we stayed in a hotel that night… with a pool! So we got up, about the time we normally do on Saturday, and went down to enjoy the hotel pool for an hour. What a treat! After a brunch at Bob Evans, it was time to make the Trek back home. Nice little mini-vacation.
