Day 8: Bryce Canyon National Park

Friday, March 23, 2018

This is another park that Sonya and I both were very anxious to return to and to show our kids. The drive was only about an hour from the ranch. It started off with rain and turned into snow the higher up we climbed. We were worried about the weather at first, but the weather warmed up and the day ended up being great.

After getting to the park taking a picture at the park entrance, a customary visit to the Visitors Center, we were off to our first hike on The Navajo Loop Trail.

Pictures From the Navajo Loop Trail:

This trail is the same one that Sonya and I took on our honeymoon and a lot of it was nostalgic for us again. Part of the trail was closed so we took another fork that ended up resulting in a 2.2 mile hike. It was phenomenal!

After lunch we checked out a couple of other lookouts, but didn’t do any more significant hiking in the park. We checked out Inspiration Point and Bryce Point. Both have spots where you can see almost a 360° view of the canyon.

We then exited the park and drove to another spot that was technically still in the park, but away from most of the activities, called Mossy Cave Trail. I didn’t get any pictures of this hike with my phone since it wasn’t that impressive a trail. But we had fun hiking it and playing in the water.

Before the entrance of park, in what was known as Bryce City, were a number of tourist facilities, mostly closed for the winter. But there was one shop open and we were able to get some souvenirs.

We had dinner at another little place in Tropic UT right outside of the park called Rustlers Restaurant. Kind of a Mex-American place. I had a burrito and it was pretty good.

Then on the way home someone had a bright idea to hurry back to the park to watch the sun set. So we made a valiant effort but didn’t make it in time. So it was back to the ranch for the day. Good day!
