Up and at ’em! Up at 4am and out the door by about 5:15 or so for about a 5 hour drive to Flagstaff AZ for worship. We left thinking that we were going to make it with about 10 minutes to spare. But when the time updated when crossing into AZ, it occurred to me that Arizona doesn’t change time for daylight savings. So we gained an hour. That was a relief.

So far I’d been pretty good about getting pictures of the state signs at the state lines, but I missed Arizona’s. It was not that impressive on Hwy 89S.
We made it to the church (ahead of schedule) in Ash Fork AZ. The building wasn’t what we expected it to be; it was a little house on the outskirts of the neighborhood. Our crew of 7 more than doubled what they normally experienced. We met Richard, Archie, Robin, John, and Austin. Richard led most of the discussions. Archie led singing; he led one of his favorite songs since “there were so many people there and the singing sounded so good”.

After services it was off to the Grand Canyon. We got there relative late in the day so we didn’t see as much as we would have liked to. We hiked a trail (I can’t remember the name of it at this point) that was almost straight down to a point and straight up again. Once again, the younger ones excelled in this area while Vivian, Mom and I brought up the rear.
The sights, as you can imagine, were breathtaking.

After hiking, we headed into town for souvenirs and some extremely delicious pizza.

Once our day had completed, it was back to the motel in Flagstaff AZ.
