Day 2: Drive from St. Louis to Colorado Springs

Saturday, March 17, 2018

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

The Extended Stay just kept on par this morning. What was advertised online as a free breakfast consisted of plastic-wrapped muffins, granola bars, and pretty bad coffee. The WiFi that the kids had relied on to download movies for the very long drive ahead failed as well. We tried again to hop on a local Wendy’s WiFi after filling up, but had no luck. So, half-fed, a full tank, and with no movies, we’re off at about 7:45am.

Trip Route

Long drive today across Missouri and Kansas. Not much to report. Kansas is very large and flat and often smelled of urine. Walmart stop along the way for some miscellaneous items. McDonalds in Burlington CO for dinner.

Out of Burlington we were hoping to catch up with the sun to watch it set behind the Rocky Mountains, but we weren’t quick enough. We ended up rolling into Colorado Springs about 10PM Mountain.

The Econo Lodge we stayed at was a bit nicer but much smaller. We had to get creative with some of the sleeping arrangements.
